Homebuilt Analog Synthesizer

Welcome to my analog modular synthesizer site.

I’ve been working on this system for a few years now, i can’t remember how long, which is a bad sign right off the bat.  I’m not a synth designer or even any sort of circuit designer.  The only reason i can build this stuff is because I’m pretty good with a soldering iron, i understand basic electricity, I enjoy building things, and i am relentlessly persistent.

My  motivation and influences come from early exposure to Emerson Lake and Palmer.  I saw them live twice (Tarkus and Brain Salad Surgery), and stood right by the stage by Emerson’s huge Moog.  That was 30 years ago.  I was also heavily influenced by my brother Robert, who is really, really smart, and started electronics when he was quite young.  He was going to try to build a small modular when he was just a teenager back in vacuum tube days.  I currently have the original cabinet and the one module he completed (a multiple).

Robert has the number one combo organ website in the world, www.combo-organ.com.  pay a visit to learn all about Vox Continentals and stuff like that.  My brother rules.

I’m 48, a product of the Louisiana school system, and I’ve had two (2) electronics classes in my life (both introductions).  I used to fix TVs back when they all had tubes.  You just start changing tubes until the problem goes away.  No kidding, a red ass monkey could do it.
